| The construction, installation and commissioning works of
our Bandırma WEPP with an installed capacity of 30MW has been finished
and set under operation by Yapısan Electricity Generation Inc. a branch company of Bilgin Energy
Investment Holding Inc. as of May 26th 2006. Bandırma WEPP is located 10km. east of Bandırma province, on the peaks of the hills laid parallel to the Marmara Sea. Yapısan Electricity Generation Inc. has started the measurements for the projects in year 2000, and the acquired data had been evaluated by the worldwide known wind data evaluation companies and institutes. With the guidance of these evaluation reports, 20 turbines each with 1,5MW capacity had been decided to use for the project. The turbines were produced by GE Energy (General Electric), and delivered to Bandırma Port via seaway and transported to the site. The turbines have 54,7m hub height and 70,5m rotor diameter. The 52m-high steel towers were produced by ÇİMTAŞ in Gemlik/TURKEY. Bandırma WEPP, not only Turkey’s first privately owned and operated wind park, also had risen up the current installed capacity of 20MW in Turkey by 150% to 50MW by itself in 2006. With an annual generation of 120 million kWh, Bandırma WEPP can supply the electricity demand of an 80.000 populated town. Among all these, with the clean power generation of Bandırma WEPP, 70.000 tons of carbon emission reduction is expected annually. The electricity generated at the turbines is transmitted first to the 34,5/154kV substation via medium voltage cable, and with the 8km. overhead high voltage cables to the national grid system, all built by Yapısan Electricity Generation Inc. The power generated is sold to the free market including wholesale companies and industrial facilities. The most significant feature of this power plant is contrary to the currently installed WEPPs in Turkey, Bandırma WEPP is under operation without any highly priced purchase guarantee from the state, and built with the own financial resources of Bilgin Energy, to supply clean, environmental and renewable energy to the nationwide electricity pool. |
